Philippines Roundtable on Women Peace and Security

Jasmin Nario-Galace of the IANSA Women’s Network and Sulong CARHRIHL, facilitated and led a roundtable discussion on ‘Women, Peace, and Security in Colombia and the Philippines’ on 10 July. The event took place during a week-long visit to the Philippines by Colombian peace, human rights and women’s rights advocates. The event was co-organised by Sulong CARHRIHL, Conciliation Resources and INEPAZ. According to the organizers, the Colombian guests were inspired by the Philippines’ National Action Plan on Women Peace and Security launched in March 2010, the first to include commitments on reducing gun violence against women, a victory achieved by women’s rights and peace movements in the Philippines.
