Canada: Vote on Long Gun Registry

On 22 September, Members of Parliament in Canada will vote on a motion to stop Bill C-391. This Bill aims to end the requirement that rifles and shotguns, including sniper rifles, must be registered. Currently there are over 7 million long guns registered in Canada and existing registration data would be lost if Bill C-391 passed. In addition, the Bill makes no provisions to reinstate the requirement that businesses keep records of gun sales, a Canadian requirement since 1977.
