Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu backs campaign for a strong Arms Trade Treaty

Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu has signed an Interfaith Declaration on an Arms Trade Treaty. He said, "A historic decision was made in 2009 to negotiate a legally binding Arms Trade Treaty. The hour of its negotiation is nearly upon us. Yet without a strong moral foundation the agreement will be a hollow one and do nothing to prevent the on-going slaughter of hundreds of thousands of people every year". The Interfaith Declaration was written by the IANSA members Swedish Fellowship of Reconciliation (SweFOR), Caritas France and CCFD -Terre Solidaire and the Interfaith Working Group of the Control Arms Coalition.
