Argentina: Guns used in more than half of all murders of women

Nearly 60% of women murdered in Argentina from 1997 to 2010 were killed with a gun, according to IANSA member Asociación para Políticas Públicas (APP).In their latest publication “A map of gender violence in Argentina”, they found that 6,077 women were killed in this period, and around half of those deaths were due to domestic violence. The ‘Map’ was issued in collaboration with the University of San Andrés (UDESA), and with support from the Government of Norway. It includes an overview of the evolution and characteristics of homicide, suicide and sexual violence in Argentina by means, gender and region.
