PAPUA NEW GUINEA: Gun culture threatens security ahead of 2012 elections

The government of Papua New Guinea warns that the proliferation and use of illegal guns in the country is threatening security ahead of parliamentary elections, scheduled for June 2012, according to IRIN news. National police has estimated that 80 percent of all major crimes in the country are gun-related.
