Turkey: IANSA member concerned about proposed firearms bill

IANSA member in Turkey, the Umut Foundation, is appealing for Parliament to reject a proposed new bill on firearms due to be voted on this month. The bill, if passed, would lower the minimum age for firearms possession, require no proper data collection on firearms possession and no compulsory education certificate or investigation before granting a license. At least 3000 people are killed by guns every year in Turkey, according to director Nazire Dedeman.
