US: IANSA members call for ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines

In the US, IANSA members are calling for a national ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines after the Arizona shooting last week. The man who shot and killed 6 people and injured 14 was the legal owner of a semiautomatic handgun with a magazine that enabled him to fire over 30 bullets before stopping to reload. Paul Helmke of the Brady Campaign To Prevent Gun Violence said “The gun laws in Arizona are among the weakest in our country, and we saw some of the consequences of that in this shooting. We can and should do more to address the easy access to high-powered guns”.More
